Hello,

Does Mobile Article Explorer work on a computer or only on tablets and phones.

If so, can't get it to work on my Mac.

Thanks a lot for your help!

Hi Marc,

Yes, the Mobile Article Explorer should work on a computer in addition to tablets and phones:

You might try checking if you're exporting with the latest version of in5 (currently 3.8.11). You can check your version by going to in5 > Info and Updates... and checking the version number in the upper right of the in5 - Info & Updates dialog that opens. If it's an older version, try downloading the latest version, installing it, and re-exporting your content.
If you're still having issues after updating to the latest version, would you be able to send us your InDesign file (or a sample file that recreates the issue) and your html5_output for us to troubleshoot? You can send your files here:

Hello Myra

Many thanks for your prompt response.

I appreciate!

I must be doing something wrong.

I am therefore attaching the files to the address mentioned.

I have 3 more questions:

- Why does the video in autostart mode leave when opened in Safari, but not in Google Chrome?

- Unable to download the "scrolling frame" plugin from my Indesign. The download button freezes and nothing happens. I can however cancel. Is this because I have a trial version?

- Impossible to use "Viewer display" when exporting. Is this normal? Or is it also because I have a trial version?

Thank you for your precious help

I replied via email, but I'm adding my answers here for others who have similar questions:

I can see from the output that you're exporting with in demo mode. There are some limitations in demo mode including Pro features such as the Mobile Article Explorer. When you export with a licensed Pro plan or higher, then the Mobile Article explorer works. Here's a list of features available by plan level:

I can also see in the InDesign file that although the video is set to Autoplay in the in5 Video interactive widget (in5 > Interactive Widgets > Video) that Mute is not selected. Some browsers restrict autoplaying video without user interaction. The workaround is to mute it. Here's more information about the workaround:

We have seen that sometimes the button doesn't work for people if their IT department restricts downloads. You can try download from the following page; however, If you're in an environment that restricts downloading, then this may not work for you either. In that case, you might want to check with your IT department:

Yes, the Viewer Display is another Pro+ level feature that is limited by the demo version.

Hello,

I'm prepping various HTML variations using In5 in order for management and our IT team to review for possible use in our production workflow. However, it appears that the Mobile Article Explorer isn't available for demo users. If there's not a way around that limitation, then perhaps I can send my InDesign file to Ajar for a one-off export, please?

Thanks!

Thank you for your interest in in5.

Demo mode does include some limitations.

Full access to in5 features requires a paid subscription at the desired plan level, so you could purchase a plan on a month-to-month basis and set it to cancel at the end of the month (which turns off auto-renewal) if your management doesn't wish to continue the subscription.

If they do approve it, then you can switch to the annual plan to take advantage of the 50% savings off the regular price of the monthly plan and get a pro-rated credit for the unused time on the monthly plan. The following links show the pricing for monthly plans and annual plans:

Just make sure that you choose a plan that is billed monthly (For example, Gold on the month-to-month plan is $100/month). You might want to double-check the features available per plan level on this chart to confirm which level you need.

The converted files are yours to keep even after your subscription ends. To make updates and re-export from InDesign, you'll need to have an active subscription.

You might also want to share with your management and IT team the following free guide:

Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

Thanks for your workaround suggestions, Myra. Unfortunatley, the intricacies of a government agency's purchasing process are not flexible to allow paying for a subscription with the possibility that it may need to be cancelled if a feauture does not work during the testing phase.

However, if the opportunity arises, please forward my request to in5's "suggestion box" to include key in5 functionality in the demo version.

Kind regards,

Terry

The demo version is what we recommend for testing. If you need to access additional features that are not available in the demo version, such as the Mobile Article Explorer, you would need a paid subscription. There is a 30-day money back guarantee.
