Syntax for facetime URL on iOS devices?

What syntax would you use to trigger facetime call feature?

We found this was a built-in function for iPad app dev years ago - a neat trick in the right situations.

It looks like you can create a Hyperlink and simply start it with:

facetime:

Then enter a phone number or email address and iOS/Mac OS should recognize it.
