iPad Web App - Video cache does not work

Question

Hi,

we have a big application which contains many video (677 MB) and  I have to download this to an iPad to have complete offline functionality.

If I open the app, I need internet connection to watch the videos. Doesn´t work offline.

Any idea how to solve this problem?

Because videos are technically played with the media player app on the iPad, they cannot be cached by the browser. There's no way around needing an internet connection in this case.

Even if videos could be played offline, 677 MB is too large to be cached.

Thanks to Chris Converse, I have confirmed that small videos can be cached offline in newer versions of iOS:
