Is this a bug? Flipping back and forth from portrait to landscape miniaturizes the view over time.

If you do it enough times, the WebApp shuts down and closes.

This is happening in iOS 8.3 on an iPad and also on iPhone.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a fix?

Thanks.

Can you post a URL to test?
Hi, Justin.

I've put up 2 tests:

www.ponka-wonka.com/phone-bad/index.hmtl
www.ponka-wonka.com/tablet-bad/index.html

As far as I can determine, this weird miniaturizing only affects iPhone and iPad users. We've tested it on iOS 8.3 ... but it could have been there before and just not noticed.

These are multi-device WebApps. And I do not have the same problem with my Android phone or tablet.

The only way around it that I've found is to use a Viewpoint of 100% Zoom, but that limits the flexibility.

And ideas?

If you need any more information, just let me know.

Thanks.
Justin, I think it might be a bug in iOS 8.3. See what you think based on the samples I put up above and based on these references I found online:

This article indicates there are landscape issues with iOS 8.3, but it doesn't specify: http://www.gottabemobile.com/2015/04/09/ios-8-3-problems/

And then there is this: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/7006886
On further investigation, I'm not sure it's an iOS 8.3 bug ... I cannot get other apps to do this. Any ideas how to fix this?

Hi Sepali,

Thanks for the examples. I was able to replicate the issue. This is almost 100% certainly an iOS bug. in5 does use any javascript for rotation detection. This is all done with the viewport metatag, which is handled by the browser. You could try changing the viewport zoom setting within the in5 dialog, but it may change the scaling of your app.

It's definitely good to report the issue to Apple. They did manage to fix the Audio/Video in Web Apps for iOS 8.3.

Sorry I don't have a better answer for you.
