Ever get halfway through a project and wish you’d put everything into a symbol instead of on the main timeline? This extension takes care of that. It’s also helpful for combining multiple files into one.
Download
(Compatible with Flash MX 2008, Flash 8, and Flash CS3.)
Convert timeline to symbol.mxp
Or, if you’d like to replace your timeline with a graphic that plays through once (within the graphic the original layers will be retained):

Hi. I’m really interested in some of your tutorials but can’t open the files. Any suggestions?

Hi Ad,
Not sure what you mean by ‘tutorials.’ Most of the downloads on this site are extensions to expand the capability of the Flash authoring environment. The extensions are .mxp format and can be opened with Extension Manager, which is a free application that comes with any installed Adobe Creative Suite applications (CS3 & CS4–Macromedia Studios apps before that).
Greeeeeeaaatttt !!!
thanks ! saved me a holee lot of time today !
thanks a lot !
Hey, glad to hear that, Thiago!
In the page where you browse all the extensions it says that it’s compatible with cs4, but on this page it says that it’s not. When i install it on my CS4 it doesn’t appear in command menu, so i am asking where is the problem – in my flash or it’s just not compatible whit cs4?
B, it’s hard to keep all of the pages up to date as new versions come out, but as a general rule, most of the extensions (including this one) are forward compatible. This should work in CS4. Are you sure you’re using Extension Manager CS4 (and not an older version of Extension Manager) to install it?
I want to learn flash inaeasier mannner will U help me?
Samreen, learning Flash is a much bigger topic than can be addressed in this comment area. So I put together a page with a list of Flash learning resources. Hope that helps.
Thanks, this was a lifesaver. I was having problems not being able to convert someone else’s timeline animations (with tweens and whatnot) into a symbol – not exactly sure why but the option was greyed out when I selected certain clips. Your extension did the trick though!
Glad to hear it, Gordon!
