  14. These are some of the most useful Flash extensions that I have seen, and they are free! I just made a small donation, I hope I am not the only one.

  17. Joel,
Thanks for sharing. This is a list of extensions that I’ve created, that are available on this site…So I didn’t forget to list anyone else’s extensions, though there are many great ones out there.

    Comment by Justin — July 1, 2009 @ 3:27 pm

  18. Ah, I didn’t realize you made all these. They’re pretty sick man. Thanks.

  19. Great extensions! God bless your talent, man. A lot of this stuff should have already came bundled with Flash, but anywho….

Is there any possibility to get an extension that would serve as a camera? Having to move and scale your entire scene is still a really big problem. If not, Is there a place where I can get an script for a camera?

  20. Hi! I really appreachiate Your great work! It’s a very valuably contribution. :)

There’s one thing I’m annoyed of in Flash every day: There is no option to save my tool presets (brush size, pressure sensitivity, eraser size and shape etc.). Do You thing it would be a big deal to setup an extension for that issue?

    Comment by Tom Drexl — October 7, 2009 @ 8:56 am

  21. Thanks for the kind words, Christopher!

Sounds like you’re looking for the fabulous vcam. More details at this post: Flash vCam Still Alive

  22. Hi, Tom. Thanks for your kind words as well!

There isn’t a lot of access to the brush controls at the moment. I’m working with some people on the Flash team to create a new kind of brush extension. I’ll try to include these features if I can.

    Comment by Justin — October 9, 2009 @ 8:17 pm

  23. Wow! :) That sounds like a ray of hope!
    I’m curiuos! Thanks!

  24. …just in case you’re looking for suggestions…. ;)
I’m working with flash since 2002. I’m using frame by frame drawn animation a lot.
The coarse and not saveable adjustment of the timeline zoom is annoying. Also an option to tint layers or frame (-sequences) within the timeline would be great…

    Comment by Tom Drexl — October 9, 2009 @ 8:32 pm

  25. Thanks for the suggestions, Tom. Can you elaborate on what you mean by ‘tinting’ a layer or frame sequence?

    Comment by Justin — October 9, 2009 @ 8:34 pm

  26. Sorry, I’m not a native speaker (writer). I meant just colorize instead of the standard gray. Like a layer in photoshop.
For example i could have one character in one layer group (green) and another in the red group. It would improve the orientation in complex files.

Even more flexible would it be to colorize frame #3 to #56 in layer 6 to indicate here’s where the character waves his hand for example. I know i can use the frame label, but it’s faster and more intuitive to use colors.

    ___

Taking the risk to annoy you:
Regarding the subject of graphic symbols. I’m dreaming of the possibility to change the number of the start frame (in single frame mode) by right clicking the symbol on the stage and changing the value by pulling the mouse left and right with a real time preview.

    Comment by Tom Drexl — October 9, 2009 @ 8:48 pm

  27. Tom,
Currently, you can’t actually color the layer or frames (tweens have special colors). There is a layer color that can be set that will show up when the layer set to outlines.

Re: changing frames of a graphic easily, take a look at Animonger’s AnimSlider which slides back and forth the way you described, or alternatively, my FrameSync extension, which uses frame labels within the symbol to navigate with a click.

    Comment by Justin — October 9, 2009 @ 8:59 pm

  28. - the color: I will have to wait for the next release (or the one after)…

    - changing frames: I already have AnimSlider which is a great tool, but unfortunately doesn’t work really stable with CS4. I did try FrameSync yet, but I will! :)

    - the brushes: I keep my ears wide open for news !

    Thanks so far!

  31. Hey Justin. Its so great to have found your extensions, I just grabbed a bunch of them and they will totally speed up my work and make alot of repetitive and tedious tasks not suck as much :)
    Thanks alot.
I actually found your site while looking for an extension that sets guides (lines) to the four stage borders, I’ll use your guide maker now but I’ll have to manually set the x to 0 and stage length and the y to 0 and stage height (I think). I was wondering if you knew of something that does just that with one click?

    Comment by oron — March 5, 2010 @ 12:56 am

  32. Oron, Thanks for the comments!
If I understand your question, you only need look at the features list for the Guide Maker extension a little closer. You can set x & y both to 0,100%. It will calculate the stage height/width for you. Then save the set for quick reuse. I have a saved set for stage borders that I use all the time!

  35. I’ll try to use the cs5 again because I did not like when installed. However, I use a lot of yours extensions. They work in cs5 perfectly well? Thank you :)

    Comment by maximus_gk — September 3, 2010 @ 2:48 pm

  36. maximus_gk, nearly all of the extensions should work just fine in CS5. The only issue I’m aware of is that Combine Textfields does not work with TLF textfields. If you find one of the extensions does not work properly in CS5, please add a comment on the post with the individual extension, and I will try to resolve the issue.

  38. Hello, I am learning flash 8 and I want to ask that Can I create flash extension in Macromedia Flash 8(Auto scription 2.0)? Thanks

    Comment by Flash Animations — November 5, 2010 @ 12:18 am

  39. @Flash Animations, yes, you can package extensions back as far as Flash MX 2004 (assuming you only use JSFL and ActionScript available to that version of Flash). Flash 8 is and AS2 are just fine.

  40. Hi there, First, thanks for the great post. Sir, I need your help, I’ve created some animations in flash, and I think there is something wrong in that. Please suggest me some improvements. I hope you will not disappoint me. Thank you so much.

  41. Hi @Flash Animations, glad you’re learning to animate with Flash. If you’re looking for tips on learning to animate with Flash, see this page. If you’re looking for feedback on your animations, try posting your content to the Cold Hard Flash forum, the Keyframer forum, or Newgrounds. Best of luck.
