You can try combining the export tag and the name of the style. Each one of those should result in a class name (for a max of two). Any dash or slash will be ignored. Spaces as well...but we might be able to update a future version to support multiple class names using spaces as breaks. Let us know how using the export tag and the style name work for you in the meantime.

With in5, you can create a layout in InDesign and export it as HTML5. The exported content is placed in a generated folder named "html5_output" that contains the index.html file (and numbered files if you select the Multi-page Web output option) and an assets folder that contains a CSS folder, a JS folder, and an images folder. It may also include a downloads folder (if you select to include a downloadable PDF) and a media folder (if you add video assets).

If you only add the index.html content into a Divi code module, the rest of the content in the assets folder won't be included. The content in the assets folder is necessary to make your exported in5 content appear and function as you designed in your layout.

In your previous email, you asked about relinking the contents after splitting the html from the assets folder.

You are welcome to try splitting it apart--just as you're welcome to customize the content that in5 exports. However, splitting the HTML from the assets folder is not an approach that we would recommend nor be able to support if you ran into any issues as a result of the splitting.

An alternative would be to upload your in5-exported content to a web server directly instead of using WordPress. The following article includes links to a variety of paid and free hosting options and links to more information about uploading content:

Hi Louis,

Sorry that you're dealing with this. To be honest, it sounds like someone creating an arbitrary barrier. I dealt with stuff like this when I worked at a corporation. The files produced by in5 are all client-side and standalone. They can simply be uploaded as their own package without linking to server dependencies. It literally just needs to be dropped altogether on a web server and it will work.

If you zipped the html5_output folder and sent that to them, it's likely that they are trying to open the index.html page without first extracting the zip file.

What's happening is Windows lets you preview the zip file without opening it. The preview cannot access the rest of the files that it needs (such as the CSS, the JavaScript, and the images) to render the content in the browser until they're unzipped.

You can confirm that this is the issue by looking at the address bar in the browser. You'll see ".zip" in the file path.

The easiest way to unzip on Windows is to right-click and choose Extract all... then follow the steps to zip the output to a folder.

You might also add proportional scaling. Typically, I would recommend Desktop Scaling/Best Fit in the Advanced section of the Export HTML5 with in5 dialog, but it does disable pinch to zoom. If you'd like users to be able to use pinch to zoom, then try setting the Mobile Device Viewport Zoom to Zoom to Page Width. Here's some more information on Desktop Scaling and the Mobile Device Viewport Zoom. It works a little differently than Desktop Scaling.

You can use Presentation Mode to make your content full screen; however, the Fullscreen API is not supported on iOS/Safari, iOS/Chrome and iPad/Chrome.

Also, be aware that Presentation Mode is Pro-level feature and that some Pro and higher level features are limited in demo mode:

First, there are a couple of ways that you can add a form to your in5-exported content that could be filled out and saved:

Use form elements and make the content save locally with the in5 Form Element Data widget

Whichever approach you use to add your form, you could then either put the form inside of a pop-up or an accordion

Neither approach automatically shifts content down to accommodate the form. If you wanted the content to appear that way, you could make the MSO for the accordion include the content on each state where it would appear moved down when the form is visible.

I'm sorry for the inconvenience. Version 3.8.13 of in5 has a bug that affects the Viewer Display Zoom. Our developer said that the bug is caused by the fix in 3.8.13 for relative links in a scaled, scrolling document that weren't working properly on load. They modified the code so that the Viewer Display Zoom will scale.

Here's how to add the modified code:

Copy the code below
Export either by going to in5 > Export HTML5 with in5... or to in5 > Easy Export Wizard... and clicking the Advanced button
Go to the Resources section of the Export HTML5 with in5 dialog
Click the + button in the JavaScript section
Click the Paste code... button to paste the code from your clipboard
Click the Save and apply button
Select Append to Existing at the bottom of the JavaScript section
Click OK to export

After a quick search, I found https://www.hostinger.com/tutorials/error-520 which says that a 520 error on Cloudflare is a server-side error caused by a connection issue between the web server and the origin server. The recommendations were to try refreshing the page, clearing your browser cache and cookies, contacting your hosting provider or website administrator, and checking your server's logs for any issues to prevent this error.

An update on this issue, as I think it helpful to the community.

The text boxes that were not being converted to SVG still did not convert even after purchasing a Pro license. These boxes -- rounded rectangles -- had been copied, pasted and resized to accommodate different a mount of text. I did that resizing incorrectly which resulted in anchor points at the corners that changed the shape of the corner curves. For whatever reason, that was making it impossible for in5 to correctly convert them to SVG.

The solution was:

Select each text box using the Direct Slection tool
Select, from the menu, Object > Convert Shape > Rounded Rectangle
Set the corner options to the same point size (for consistency)

Upon in5 html export of the file, the rendering was perfect.

Thank you for sharing a screenshot of the error message. That appears to be an InDesign error as opposed to an in5 error. A similar error with in5 was resolved when removing an ampersand, "&," from the name of a linked file. If your preset name includes an "&," then try removing it.

To hide the loading of the document that appears in the iframe, try adding the following CSS via the Resources section:

I think the key to keeping the slideshows from interfering with one another is by using a Go To State action to 'freeze' them. Here's what worked for me:

Slideshow 1 and 2 are MSOs with a fade in animation applied and Tap to Play/Pause applied through the Slideshow widget.
A rectangle frame filled with the background color is in a layer above as a mask. It has a fade out animation applied.
Button 1 is set up with the following actions:
- Go To State (Slideshow 2: State 1)
- Animation (Slideshow 2) with option: Reverse selected
- Animation (rectangle) with option: Play selected
Button 2 is set up with the following actions:
- Go To State (Slideshow1: State 1)
- Animation (Slideshow 2) with option: Play selected

With in5, you can export your InDesign layout to HTML5. The content is exported to your hard drive. Because the exported content is HTML5, it will need to be uploaded to a website. That content, the index.html file and the assets folder, is yours to keep--even after your in5 subscription ends. If you make any changes to your InDesign file and want to re-export, you'll need an active subscription.

Yes, there are a few ways that you could insert interactive puzzles in InDesign and export with in5:

If it's a puzzle that is on another website, you can use the InDesign HTML Object to insert an embed code in the same way you would add an embed code for a YouTube video or Google Form.
If the puzzle is on a site that doesn't generate an embed code, you can use the in5 Web Content Interactive Widget to insert the URL.
If you are making the puzzle using Animate or Tumult Hype, you can export an OAM file and place that in your layout.

Hi all,

I've got a project which requires the use of a specific custom font in a book exported as an interactive HTML5 site, but I can't quite get it working on all browsers.

I've followed the in5 videos on google fonts and typekit, so generally understand where the code needs to go within in5. It is working perfectly when viewed on Chrome, but it defaults back to a generic sans serif on Safari.

Has anyone experienced this before? Any suggestions on what the problem might be?

I responded via email, but the answer might help others, so I'm adding it here. The video placed from a URL produces an error in InDesign that says, "Download failed because the URL could not be verified." I pasted the URL in a browser window and got a message that "This site can't be reached." It's likely that is the source of the exporting error.

No matter which file I try, when I go to export with i5 I get this warning. Is this common?

Whether Yes or No I still then get the "loading..." and it never goes any further.

I use In5 on multiple machines, all using the same copy of InDesign 2020 and it only happens on one of these PCs. I have uninstalled and reinstalled InDesign, but unfortunately at our institution, I cannot upgrade my copy of InDesign.

Hi. I was browser testing a multi-page website, created in v 3.5.4, that was rendered as images (no live text). In Firefox and Chrome, everything was looking really good and crisp, before, during and after animations would execute. then I tested in Safari, and for some reason the sharpness keeps softening and sharpening intermittently, noticeably softening just before an animation executes and then sharpening up again afterward. Because I have a variety of animations per page, triggered by buttons, the pages look like a camera that's going in and out of focus constantly. Do you know why this is happening in Safari but not in other browsers?

Hi there, 6 months ago we had this document working beautifully, but now when I output the file to HTML5 I am getting broken formatting on the lists and you will also see spaces missing from the breadcrumb navigation. Are you able to advise a way to fix this please?

Page thumbnail navigation doesn't work

After export to html and opening in a browser window, choosing the page thumbnail navigation at the bottom brings up the thumbnails but clicking on them has no effect on the document - ie unable to navigate the document using the thumbnails.

HTML placed in a iframe shrinks on multi page export

Hi there

I am currently working on a digital atlas. So it is a multi page document containing maps and popup boxes, ect. At present it contains 9 pages. On page 1-3 its has and opener page and 2 world maps (HTML asset placed in a iframe), then on the following pages there are maps of the continents (HTML assets placed in iframes). When I export the whole document the 2 world maps shrink to about 50% of their proper size - the continent maps aren't affected. However, when I export only page 1-3 the maps work perfectly and fit correctly. Any clues to what is causing this?

We are working with the "Flipbook with page peel" and we output it as web (multiple web pages are not working with "Flipbook with page peel"). And HTML Anchors are not working too. Exported Images blurry on Ipad Retina

I exported InDesign file to HTML5 on all standard settings. Client says on Ipad Retina the images are blurry but they look fine on website and other tablets. How to I optimize the images for Ipad Retina when exporting? I hear the images may need to be double size? Any ideas how to correct this?

I have been struggling with creating an indesign magazine. all of the interactivity controls work but when I embed the code for a you tube video it plays when I preview but not when I publish as an interactive pdf. I don't want to insert videos into the pdf as the file becomes to large to download.

Before I try it can in5 correct this issue? If so it would be wonderful.
